How it works

Holding

Grams, reservations, restrictions, estimates and further purchases.

One gold bar alone on a shelf in a dark vault, kept, not a statement of title

02

A holding is a quantity of gold, stated in grams, plus the evidence that says who owns it. An estimate in euro is a second figure.

The quantities

Available grams can be used for a new sale. Reserved grams are still owned, and they are already committed to something in progress. Restricted grams stay on the record and cannot be sold while the restriction lasts. These are not three kinds of metal.

The estimate

The euro figure beside a holding is an estimate when it is labelled as one. It is not an offer to buy the gold from you, and it is not the net amount of a future payout. Storage costs, when they are charged, are money. They are not taken by reducing the gram balance.

Evidence and statements

You should be able to read activity and statements for the account. The internal record is GXLD’s operational book. Legal title still depends on the external evidence the arrangement requires. A fractional balance is not a photograph of a named bar unless that identification is part of the arrangement. It is not, today.

Buying more

Another purchase is a new purchase. It has its own funding and its own quote. It does not average into the previous one.
